Factsheets for mourning during Covid

We have been receiving calls from people after a loved one has died, before an end of life service has been possible. How people can find ways to celebrate and mourn their loved ones, when customary ways are not possible, has been much on our hearts, so we asked some religious leaders for their thoughts and wisdom.

What follows are short factsheet suggestions from religious leaders, to cope with this extraordinary time. This is not all encompassing, nor does it offer full guidance. They are reflections simply to give you support. We wish you to take yourself gently, to be carried by good memories and we encourage you to reach out for support and connection online and on-phone. People can support you remotely when they know what has happened. Please contact your local or regular religious leader for more support. All our wishes, Gaby Eirew, Director, RecordMeNow

We wish to thank the Archbishop of York,  MINAB, the Bah’ai community of Vancouver, Rabbi Shoshana Kaminsky, Rev’d Patrick Morrow, Rev’d Simon Bray, Rev Sophie Sutherland, Julian Richer, Neha Datar, Jenny Herrera, Sarvenaz Amanat and Dr George Wilkes for their kind assistance in reflecting upon and contributing to this document.
